March 1, 2013 at 10:51 pm in reply to: how do I change dimnsions to fit into 8 x 10.25" paper? #1146RibbetKeymaster
Hi Jessydc22, As long as you’ve a registered Ribbet user, you should be able to re-open your collage from the Library Tab > History. You can then click the Undo button up the top right of the screen until you are back in Collage mode.
To get it to fit 8×10.25″ you need to then adjust the Proportions Slider down the bottom left of the collage options. Watch the image dimensions whilst using the slider. These are displayed at the bottom right of the screen in the zoom box. You need as close as possible to 799×1024. You might not be able to get this exactly, but within a couple of pixels will be fine.
Let us know if anything’s unclear or you need further assistance.
RibbetKeymasterHi Debib, To reduce the ragged edges with the Doodle Tool you can reduce the Hardness slider down a little. Even at 90% it will produce a softer edge.
The next version of Ribbet (coming in the next week or so) will allow you to create a blank, transparent image which you will then be able to drag a photo onto (from the photo basket) and erase the parts you don’t want. In the current version what you can do is open up the photo you want to layer onto (i.e. the background photo) and then drag the photo you want to erase from on top (the image/person/item). You can then use the eraser tool on this new layer to put the image/person/item onto this background.
RibbetKeymasterHi Kim, Yes: open up the collage from your History (on the Library tab) and then click Undo until you’re back in collage mode. From there you can adjust the Proportions slider to get the correct ratio.
RibbetKeymasterUpdate – Try the following replacements:
– Nip / Tuck: Plastic Surgery
– Intrepid, Tranquil and other filters: Ribbet Worldly Filters
– Film Stock, Cross Process and Polaroid: True VintageRibbetKeymasterHi Sylvia, Thanks very much for the feedback. This is something that we are definitely introducing and are working on this right now. We won’t be including the original Picnik “Fancy Collages” but will instead be launching a brand new set of designs for the various seasons.
RibbetKeymasterHi Debib, If you’re wanting to erase part of a photo to make the background white, instead of using the Eraser Tool you can use the Doodle Tool (towards the end of the Effects Tab) in order to paint white over the areas you want deleted. If you then want part of another photo (e.g. a person) to go on this white background, you can drag this second photo onto the first photo (from the Photo Basket) and then use the Eraser Tool to erase unwanted areas.
RibbetKeymasterThanks Janno. Absolutely you’ll be able to add more fonts in the future. After installing the fonts on your computer simply close down your browser completely, reopen it and then load Ribbet and you’ll be able to view the new fonts.
RibbetKeymasterHi John, This is a limitation of the current version of Flash that is integrated in Google Chrome. There are 2 solutions (until this is fixed in an automatic Chrome update):
1. Try another browser when you need to use large font-sizes (Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer etc) and if you still have a problem try updating flash.
2. Or, you can alternatively disable Chrome’s internal Flash player so that it uses the system Flash player. If you still have a problem please let us know.
RibbetKeymasterHi Hallie, If you start with a collage layout which is square in shape, you can use the proportions slider at 43:57 or 57:43. This will give you an optimally sized collage that will have very little cropping on a 30×40″ poster.
RibbetKeymasterHi Kathy. If you’re using the same font, you can just use the Enter key within the text entry area to add multiple lines to one block of text. If you need to use separate lines though (because you want different fonts or different spacing), you can find the same color in a number of ways:
1. Click on the first text you want to copy the color of, then click “Add” up the top left above the font list. This creates a copy of the text which you can then move and change but keep the color of.
2. Another trick (an alternative) is you can copy the color by copying the 6 digit code which can be found above the color selector to the right. You can then paste this to the same spot on a different piece of text and hit enter.

RibbetKeymasterUpdate: You can now use the Eraser Tool to delete areas from a layer.
