KrystalGuest
I have been making collages on Ribbit, and when I upload them to have them printed, it crops out a lot of my collage. How do you fix this? I’m guessing the proportions are wrong, but I’m not sure how to fix it…please help!

Hi Krystal, When creating your collage you can use the following Proportions Slider settings depending on the size you want to print at:
4×6″ use 40:60 or 60:40
8×10″ use 44:56 or 56:44
5×6″ use 45:55 or 55:45If you want other sizes please let me know which and I’ll provide you with the Proportions Slider setting to minimize cropping.

Okay thank you that worked! I was playing with it forever and I couldn’t get it. I was wanting to print an 8×10 and that ratio worked perfectly. Thank you! By the way, thank you so much for opening this site. I was a big fan of Piknik, and used it regularly as I am a pro photographer. Ribbit is even better!

I NEED TO PRINT A COLLAGE THAT IS WIDTH WIDE HEIGHT MUCH SHORTER. I WOULD LIKE TO PRINT A 16X24. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO SET MY RIBBETT SETTINGS TO……THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Hi Traci, For 16×24 use 40:60 or 60:40. We will be adding a feature in a future version which will allow you to lock in a dimension such as 4×6, 5×7, 16×24 etc.

What dimensions do I use to make a 5×7 or 3.5×5 collage?
-
RibbetKeymaster
Hi Christina, Here’s an update for all sizes mentioned so far, and I’ve added in the 2 sizes you’ve requested:
Dimensions Collage Ratio 3.5×5″ 41:59 or 59:41 4×6″ 40:60 or 60:40 5×6″ 45:55 or 55:45 5×7″ 42:58 or 58:42 8×10″ 44:56 or 56:44 -

What would the ratio be for a 20×24?
-
RibbetKeymaster
Hi Andrea, Here are a few more sizes including 20×24. Note that these proportions (and those previously mentioned) only work on collage layouts that are initially square in shape:
Dimensions Collage Ratio 4.25×5.5″ 44:56 or 56:44 8×5″ 38:62 or 62:38 8.5×5.5″ 39:61 or 61:39 8.5×11″ 44:56 or 56:44 20×24″ 45:55 or 55:45 -
KimGuest
Is there a way to fix or change these proportions after a collage is already created?
-
RibbetKeymaster
Hi Kim, Yes: open up the collage from your History (on the Library tab) and then click Undo until you’re back in collage mode. From there you can adjust the Proportions slider to get the correct ratio.

Pilar RezaGuest
what are the dimensions for a poster sizes 18 X 24 and 24X36?
-
RibbetKeymaster
Hi Pilar, For 18×24 use 43:57 and for 24×36 use 40:60
-
CindyGuest
What ratio would I use for a 12×12 collage, please? Thanks
-
RibbetKeymaster
Hi Cindy, as 12×12 collages are square, you need the ratio to be 50:50. This will work for all square collage layouts. For everything else, watch the dimensions as you change the Proportion Slider (down the bottom right next to Zoom) and adjust them to 1024×1024.

I don’t understand…. an 18 x 24 = 43:57 but…24×36 -= 40:60. The 18 is bigger than the 24, how can this be. The same with the smaller sizes also.

RibbetKeymaster
Hi Teresa, The reason for this is that changing the Proportions Slider doesn’t change the size of the collage, it only changes the ratio of width to height. So although one may seem larger than the other, in fact it is just about finding a ratio which most closely fits the collage’s width to height ratio.
In this case 18 / 24 = 0.75 and 43 / 57 = 0.754… which is the closest match available.

I am trying to make a wedding collage for my niece and I’m not sure what to put in for the size. I want the finished photo to be 16×20. I entered 43:57 (I know that is for 18×24 but…) when it came up on my screen it was a teeny tiny black rectangle. Do I need to enter my dimensions in another way. It would be nice if you could just pick your sizes rather than have to figure out these numbers to enter to hopefully end with a usable picture. Can you tell me how to have a blank canvas that I can drop pics onto that would end up being 16X20.
-
RibbetKeymaster
Hi Teresa, It definitely would be nice to be able to pick your sizes for both Collage proportions and Blank Canvas dimensions, and this feature will be introduced to Ribbet soon. As of right now, for a 16×20 blank canvas, use the dimensions 2400×3000. This is a perfect match for a 16×20″ collage at 150DPI (the proportions slider within Collage on the other hand can be less precise when trying to approximate dimensions, and being able to pick your size from a dropdown will resolve this).

Update to this: Ribbet Collages and Blank Canvases can now be Snapped to the most popular printing sizes. If there’s a size which you feel is missing, please let us know and we’ll add it.

Question!
I’m trying to make a collage for a calendar. The dimensions are 11×17″… what proportions should I use…???
Thank you!
-
RibbetKeymaster
Hi Ashley! We now have a Snap dropdown when creating a collage where you can select either 11×17″ or 17×11″. The collage will then be of the correct proportions for the calendar.

CourtneyGuest
Erm, I’m trying to make a 8.5 by 4.5? Could you please tell me what I should use?
-
RibbetKeymaster
Hi Courtney, We don’t currently have a preset for 8.5 x 4.5, but if you adjust the Proportions slider while watching the dimensions in the Zoom box down the bottom right, you need to get them as close to 1024×542 as possible (or 2400×1271 for High quality collages).

Shivani BaniGuest
Please tell me for 9*6
-
RibbetKeymaster
Hi Shivani,
You can now use our new “Custom Ratio…” option in the Constraint dropdown when creating your collage and enter 9 x 6.
